Terms of Use
Effective 2 September 2026 · Version 1.0 · Covers the game, this website and the online services
1. This agreement
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and the Linkland team (“Linkland”, “we”, “us”), whose registered developer details are published on the Linkland listing on the App Store and Google Play. They govern the Linkland mobile game, this website and the online services behind them (together, the “Service”). By installing or using the Service you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the Service.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data and forms part of these Terms.
2. Who may play
You must be at least 13 years old, or older if the law where you live sets a higher minimum age for using an online service without parental consent (for example 16 in parts of the EEA). If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the Service only with the involvement of a parent or guardian who accepts these Terms on your behalf.
3. Licence
We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable licence to install and use one copy of the game on a device you own or control, for your own private entertainment, in accordance with these Terms and the usage rules of the store you downloaded it from.
You may not: copy, sell, rent, sublicense or distribute the game; modify, translate, decompile or reverse engineer it, except to the extent that law expressly permits despite this restriction; remove notices of ownership; or use the Service to build a competing service. The game is licensed, not sold. All rights in the game, its code, art, sound, name and marks remain ours or our licensors'.
4. Your account
The game creates an account from an identifier on your device — there is no email address or password. That has two consequences you should know about:
- Anyone with access to your unlocked device has access to your account, so protect the device itself.
- If you uninstall the game, reset your device or switch to a new one, your account may not follow you, and progress may not be recoverable. Contact [email protected] before a device change and we will help where we can.
You are responsible for what happens on your account. Do not impersonate another player, attempt to access an account that is not yours, or share your account for the purpose of manipulating rankings.
5. Fair play and acceptable use
You agree not to:
- cheat, whether with a modified copy of the game or with anything that plays your turns for you;
- exploit bugs instead of reporting them, or manipulate matchmaking, ranked results or leaderboards;
- interfere with the Service, attack the servers behind it, or flood them with requests they did not ask for;
- harass, threaten, defame or abuse other players, or choose a nickname that is hateful, sexual, violent, deceptive or otherwise objectionable;
- evade a block, a suspension or a moderation decision, including by creating a new account;
- submit reports you know to be false;
- use the Service for anything unlawful.
The safety page describes the blocking and reporting tools available to you and how we act on reports.
6. Player content and feedback
The only thing you write inside the game is your nickname; anything else you send us goes by email. You keep any rights you have in it, and you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, moderate and use it as needed to run the Service. You are responsible for it and confirm you have the right to submit it.
We may refuse, change or remove a nickname that breaks these Terms, and we moderate reported content. If you send us an idea or a suggestion, we may use it without obligation or payment to you.
7. Purchases and virtual items
Linkland currently contains no in-app purchases, no subscriptions and no paid advantages. Cards, ratings and any other in-game items have no monetary value, cannot be exchanged for money, and may be adjusted or reset for balance or anti-cheat reasons. If we ever introduce paid content, we will update these Terms and the store listing before it goes live, and purchases will be handled by the store you bought from, under that store's payment and refund rules.
8. Availability and changes to the game
The Service is provided online and needs a working internet connection. We may update, change, add or remove features, adjust game balance, run maintenance, or stop supporting older client versions or devices. We may also discontinue the Service; where that happens and it is within our control, we will give reasonable notice in the game or on this website.
9. Suspension and closure
We may suspend or close an account, or restrict access to parts of the Service, if you break these Terms, if it is necessary to protect other players or the Service, or if the law requires it. Except where a delay would cause harm or the law prevents it, we will tell you why and how to respond.
You may stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the game, and you may request deletion of your account and data through the account deletion page. Closing an account does not remove records we are required or permitted to keep, as described in the Privacy Policy.
10. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that matchmaking will always find an opponent, that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, that defects will be corrected, or that the game will run on every device or operating-system version.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost progress, lost rankings, lost data or lost profits. Our total liability arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the claim, or EUR 50.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited under the law that applies to you.
You agree to indemnify us against claims brought by a third party that arise from your unlawful use of the Service or your breach of these Terms.
12. Consumer rights
If you use the Service as a consumer, you keep the mandatory rights given to you by the law of the country where you live, including statutory rights about digital content and, in the EEA and the UK, the right to bring proceedings in your own country. Nothing in these Terms takes those rights away.
13. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the law of the country in which Linkland is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you use the Service as a consumer, this never deprives you of the protection of the mandatory law of your own country, and you may bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence.
Please write to [email protected] first: most disputes are settled faster that way. Consumers in the EU may also use the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform.
14. Additional terms for the Apple App Store
If you obtained the game from the Apple App Store, your licence to use it is Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement, which Apple publishes in the App Store Terms and Conditions. It applies alongside these Terms, and where the two conflict for that download, Apple’s agreement wins.
- Apple is not a party. These Terms are between you and Linkland only. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for the game, its content, its maintenance and its support — see the support page for how to reach us.
- Claims come to us. Any claim relating to the game — product liability, a failure to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, a consumer-protection or privacy claim, or an allegation that the game infringes someone’s intellectual property — is ours to investigate and resolve, not Apple’s. Send it to [email protected].
- Apple’s role. Apple has no warranty obligation for the game beyond refunding its purchase price, which is zero because the game is free.
- Export compliance. You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Third-party terms. You must comply with applicable third-party terms when using the game — your wireless data plan, for example.
- Third-party beneficiary. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
15. Additional terms for Google Play
If you obtained the game from Google Play, your download and use are also subject to the Google Play Terms of Service. These Terms are between you and us only; Google is not a party to them and is not responsible for the game or its content. Google provides no warranty for the game, and any refund of a Google Play transaction is handled under Google's refund policy.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the Service changes. The effective date and version above always show which version applies. If a change is material, we will announce it in the game or on this website before it takes effect; continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the new version. If you do not accept it, stop using the Service and request account deletion.
17. Contact
Questions, complaints and formal notices about these Terms go to [email protected], and so do privacy requests — put the topic in the subject line.
Our registered developer name and contact details are published on the Linkland listing on the App Store and Google Play, and we will send them in writing on request.
